Our Ethics

Happy people
We care deeply about people. That is why we are into health and education (in case you hadn’t guessed). We enjoy people and we believe in doing right by people. That is why we have the most generous refund policy of any home study organisation we know of. That is why we go out of our way to make things as good as they can be for our customers. That is why we ensure we are always fair, honest and open.

Carbon negative
Our business is carbon neutral, in fact we are carbon negative. We looked into it carefully and made sure we give back more than we use. First of all we looked at where we could make savings. Then we set to calculating consumption! All sorts of consumption, oil, gas, petrol, coal, paper, electricity, trains, plains and automobiles; then we rounded everything up and adding a lot more on just to be sure. Then we used a carbon calculator to work out exactly how many tons of C02 that lot came to. Then we got in touch with Moor Trees and told them all about our dirty carbon foot print. They said, no problem, we can sort that out for you. Now every year we plant broad leaf trees in depleted areas of the South West. We even have some pictures of them! You can find out about Moor Trees at www.moortrees.org; and you can play with a carbon calculator at http://www.carboncalculator.co.uk

Perfect paper
We get through a lot of paper so it is important to us where it comes from! All our stationary and marketing material is printed on Flora Gardenia one of only a few recycled papers that is available in a wide selection of weights making it usable for all uses. Flora Gardenia is produced by combining 50% selected post consumer waste fibers with Chlorine Free oxygen bleached (ECF) virgin pulp. The paper is acid free and has a nautral pH. All the paper used for our courses comes from well-managed forests (renewable sources). We only buy recycled paper or paper from businesses that use wood from suppliers who manage their forest resources properly and that follow environmental guidelines.

Recycle, reduce, reuse
We sort and recycle everything, it has become an obsession! It almost feels disappointing to put something in the bin now. If the recycling guys won’t pick it up then we save it and do a run to the recycling centre ever once and while.

Power down
Every evening at the end of work we power down and switch off every piece of electrical equipment that can be turned off. Nothing is left on stand-by. Every little green or red light is extinguished! You should hear the silence after you do that – what a difference. Yes it takes us a little more energy at the beginning and end of every day to switch everything on and off but we don’t mind – its worth it.

Jumpers up, heating down

We hate using the heating. Not because we don’t like it or it costs a lot of money, but because it uses energy. When the cold comes we see how long we can hold out. We push ourselves a little further each year. It becomes a test of endurance. The colder it gets the more layers we put on, until finally we can’t move for jumpers and we have to give in.

The power of green
We get our electricity from Juice. Set up by Green Peace all the energy comes from wind farms and renewable sources. It doesn’t even cost more than other suppliers. We would urge everyone to transfer their electricity supply to a green supplier. You can find out more about Juice at . And of course we use energy efficient bulbs where we can.www.npower.com/juice

We are family
We work closely with the Maun Homeopathy Project in - . needs all the help it can get and Western medicines are expensive. Homeopathy offers a cost effective health treatment with incredible results. Maun has the highest levels of Aids than anywhere else in the world. The Maun Homeopathy Project runs mobile clinics giving free homeopathic treatment to the community. They are hugely popular with queues running down the streets. We are supplying free homeopathic education to the locals so one day in the future they will be able to create and maintain their own homeopathic clinics.Africawww.homeopathybotswana.comAfrica

Scholarships
Every year we give away one homeopathy Scholarship worth at least £1200.00. We have a growing number of students from around the world learning with us for free. It is wonderful to be in the position to give the gift of homeopathy to these people. For example we have Eben in , a well educated fifty year old man who desperately wants to open a practice and help his local community. And we have Michael a prisoner who found homeopathy and a new path, he is now starting a study group with fellow inmates.USAfrica

This  book is the inspiration for the Four Elements Seminar being held on the 2-3  July 09 (at the School of Homeopathy's new location Hawkwood College, Stroud)  with Misha Norland, Jeremy Sherr and David Mundy.

The Four Elements in Homeopathy is an extended update of the popular  booklet, Mappa Mundi and the Dynamics of Change. It gathers together and fuses  ancient wisdom with contemporary ideas to present us with a unique visual tool  that will aid healers in perceiving the central dynamics of any case. This  book places the homeopathic remedy quest within the wider context of life and  nature, and illustrates how this enlarged understanding can be applied to help  the student or practitioner view homeopathic philosophy, materia medica and  case work from a ‘new’ perspective. It also illuminates many remedies and  provides a clear guide to potency selection.

This book has been  written by Misha Norland, who has been continually active in the resurgence of  homeopathy in the UK since the early seventies. In 1981 he founded the School  of Homeopathy. He still runs this and his practice from his home in Devon. He  also teaches internationally.

Through developing the traditional  teachings of Earth, Water, Air and Fire, the book encourages us to reclaim  doctrines that have been embedded in world cultures, both Eastern and Western,  for thousands of years. Not only do they inform us culturally but also they  are eminently practical tools with which a healer can better understand what  is going on in their patient.

The book aims to link images, sensations  and feelings, symptoms of mind and body, modalities and preferences, by  grouping firstly according to correspondence and secondly by polarity. The  polarity principle states that action and reaction are equal and opposite. In  living systems this mechanism provides homeostasis which regulates the  internal environment so as to maintain a stable condition. When this  equilibrium is lost, we struggle and fall sick.

As we become  chronically ill, because of unresolved trauma and inherited predispositions,  our energy is harmfully drained as our homeostatic systems strive but fail to  maintain stability. By ‘placing’ these failures of homeostasis on the Map of  the Four Elements an inherent tension of opposites is graphically revealed.  This informs us of the relevance of an individual’s symptoms, however  disparate they may at first glance seem, and in so doing, this guides us in  our quest for a similimum.

The energetic profile of hundreds of  remedies, obtained by considering signature and source and applying the Map’s  methodology, is given for comparison with the profile of a patient – a match  indicating a remedy to consider.

Linking the dynamic disturbance in a  patient to the remedy source is at the core of this work. It will provide  students and newcomers with an inspirational guide, and also provide  experienced prescribers with many insights.
